The risks that come with trading leveraged products, set out plainly before you open a position.

This notice explains the main risks of trading forex and CFDs with DMA Capitals. Every one of them can lead to losing money. It is here to inform you, and it cannot list every risk that may arise.
Trading leveraged products carries a high level of risk and is not suitable for everyone. You can lose all of the money you deposit. Never trade with money you cannot afford to lose, and seek independent advice if you are unsure.
01Leverage
Leverage lets you open a position much larger than the money in your Account. That magnifies losses exactly as much as it magnifies gains: a small move in price can have a large effect on your balance.
If the market moves against your open positions, there is a high chance of losing your initial deposit and any further funds you add to keep those positions open. How you use your funds, and the risk you take with them, is entirely your responsibility.
02Price volatility
The prices of most instruments can move sharply within a single day, and in either direction. The same movement that makes a profit on one position makes a loss on another.
03Technical risks
We are not responsible for losses caused by faults in your own electronic, communication or information systems. When you use a trading terminal, you accept the risks that come from:
- failures in your devices, software or internet connection;
- incorrect settings in your trading terminal;
- not updating your trading terminal to the current version;
- not following the instructions for using the terminal.
MetaTrader 5 is third-party software that DMA Capitals is licensed to use. We cannot compensate losses caused by errors in how the terminal itself operates.
04Market conditions
In fast or unusual markets, such as around major economic releases, at the weekly open or during low liquidity, orders can take longer to process and may be filled at a different price from the one requested.
- Prices can gap, jumping from one level to another with no trading in between, so a stop loss may close at a worse price than set.
- Spreads can widen well beyond their usual level.
- At times it may not be possible to open or close a position at all.
05Local laws
Trading may be restricted or prohibited where you live. You are responsible for making sure that trading, deposits and withdrawals are allowed under the laws of your own country, and for any trading or non-trading activity you carry out there.
06The trading platform
- Your instructions reach our server and are executed in the order they arrive. A new order cannot be placed while the previous one is still being processed, and one that arrives in the meantime will be rejected.
- If you send an order again before you have seen the result of the first, you are responsible for any extra trade that results.
- Closing the order window or the position window does not cancel an order that has already been sent.
- Only the prices on our server are valid. If your connection drops, prices you missed can be reloaded from the terminal’s price history.
07Copy Trading
Copying another trader carries all of the risks above, and some of its own:
- A strategy provider’s past results do not predict future results, and a strategy that has performed well can still lose.
- Losses on the strategy you follow are copied into your own Account, in proportion to the amount you allocate.
- Copied trades may open or close at a different price from the provider’s, because of timing, account size and market conditions.
- Strategy providers are independent traders, not advisers to DMA Capitals or to you. Choosing whom to copy, how much to allocate and when to stop is your decision.
08Communication
- Information sent by unencrypted email can be read by people it was not meant for.
- We are not responsible for losses caused by a message from us arriving late or not arriving at all.
- You are responsible for keeping the login details for your client portal and trading accounts, and any confidential information we send you, secure. We are not responsible for losses that follow from you sharing them.
09Force majeure
We are not responsible for losses caused by events beyond anyone’s reasonable control, which could not have been foreseen, prevented or overcome. These include, among others:
- natural disasters, fires and industrial accidents;
- failures of utilities, power or telecommunications networks;
- cyber attacks, including denial-of-service attacks;
- war, terrorism, riots, civil unrest and strikes;
- orders or measures issued by national or local government authorities.
